Our Story

Rubies & Rogues began in 2023 with a simple idea: when you see a need, do something about it.

Our founder, Mary Selvidge, kept noticing the same thing in our community. Families were hitting hard seasons with nowhere to turn, and pets were being surrendered because their people couldn't make ends meet. The needs were real, and the resources just weren't there.

So we started small. Our rescue began with a single foster home. Our first Christmas program meant delivering gifts out of the back of a car.

Today we have more than 40 active foster homes opening their doors to animals in need, and last Christmas our program served over 1,000 kids. We're still 100% volunteer and foster based, a small team of moms, grandmothers, foster parents, and animal lovers, growing because neighbors keep choosing to show up for neighbors.

We serve families and animals side by side, because we believe they belong together. A strong community takes care of its people and the pets they love.

Community
Life happens. We help neighbors through it. When an unexpected season hits, sometimes a family just needs a helping hand. We step in with practical, short-term support for individuals and families when other resources aren't available, so no one has to face a hard season alone.

Animals
Second chances, and keeping families together. Through our foster-based rescue, we give deserving animals a safe place to land and help them find loving homes. Through R&R Paws Forward, we help families facing hard times with vet care, food, and other basics, so they never have to give up a pet they love.
